Academy launches a new course: “Fundamentals of Field
Office Security.”
CARE’s Security Unit and CARE Academy are pleased
to introduce the second installment of CARE’s security
training modules, “Fundamentals of Field Office Security.”
This course is designed for Safety and Security Focal
Points (SSFP) and other staff responsible with assisting
in the management of safety and security issues within
their field offices. Along with CARE’s Personal Safety
and Security Awareness course, this training module
is part of CARE’s effort to help promote a security
culture within our organization.
The purpose of the course is to provide staff with
broad technical knowledge, including key concepts,
best practices, and practical examples of basic safety
and security management in the field. The course also
offers guidance to SSFPs on some of their specific
roles and responsibilities in safety and security
management and tools and techniques for carrying out
their designated duties.
The course curriculum consists of 8 units, each with
a specific theme that focuses subject areas and components
important to safety and security management:
Introduction to Safety and Security Management
Safety and Security Assessment
Buildings and Facilities
Vehicle Operations
Information Management
Communication Management
Personnel
Security Strategies and Planning
Each unit is divided into 2-4 individual topics covering
essential key concepts, technical information, and
procedural advise, as well as, a practical exercise
to complete. The exercises consists of activities
designed to help foster a technical and analytical
skill capacity for understanding and managing safety
and security tasks and issues.
Completion of all unit exercises results in the development
of a Risk Management Plan, which is a work-plan aimed
at addressing and improving field office safety and
security issues and procedures.
